You were our "guardian angel"
Weep for
me though I am gone
into the gentle night,
Grieve if you will but not for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest,
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear is all now gone.
Put these things out of your thoughts,
In memory I live on.
Remember not the fight for breath,
Remember not the strife,
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

FOUR PAWS IN HEAVEN
Your favorite chair is
vacant now,
no eager purrs to great me.
No softly padded paws to run,
ecstatically to greet me.
No coaxing rubs, no
plaintive cry
will say it's time for feeding -
I've put away your bowl
and all the things you won't be needing.
But I will miss you,
little friend,
for I could never measure
The happiness you brought me,
The comfort and the pleasure.
And since God put you
here to share
In earthly pain and sorrow,
I'm sure there'll be a place for you
in Heavens bright tomorrow!

"A Border Collie Pup"
I will lend to you for a while,
A Border Collie pup, God said,
For you to love him while he lives
and mourn him when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe two or three.
But will you, till I call him back,
take care of him for me.
He'll bring his charms to gladden you
and should his stay be brief,
you'll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I can
not promise he will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.
I've
looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true,
and from the folk that crowds life's land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to take my Border Collie Back
again.
I fancied that I heard them say
"Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done"
For all the joys this Border Collie will bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness
we'll love him while we may
And for happiness we've known forever grateful stay.
But should you call him back
much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.
If, by our love, we've managed
your wishes to achieve,
In memory of him we loved,
to help us while we grieve.
When our faithful bundle
departs this world of strife,
We'll have yet another Border Collie
and love him all his life.

"L.J." there are no
words to say what
your time with us
meant. We fell in love with you from the day you arrived
on this farm.
I am sure God, your creator, has some work for you to
do, and your eyes will see again, and your sore joints
will be like when you were young. Take care sweet girl
until we see you again. |
